The Ukrainian fertilizer sector gathered in Lviv on 24–25 September 2026 for the eighth edition of the International Conference Fertilizers of Ukraine. The industry forum convened domestic producers, international traders, distributors, logistics providers, and agricultural enterprises. Participants evaluated the current market situation while examining operational projections for the 2027 commercial cycle.

Commodity trading firm Alkagesta attended the two-day event, represented by Elchin Aliyev, the group's regional commodity trader for Ukraine. Company representatives conducted discussions with agricultural holdings, fertilizer manufacturers, importers, terminal operators, and supply chain partners. These commercial engagements focused on collaborative opportunities and broader market integration across regional distribution channels.

Market participants reviewed the ongoing structural challenges impacting agricultural inputs across Ukraine. Import valuations for major nitrogen products have registered steep year-on-year increases, creating cost pressures for commercial buyers. Meanwhile, local manufacturing output remains restricted due to broader domestic infrastructure disruptions.

The conference agenda addressed multiple technical and commercial areas, including supply chain bottlenecks and shifting agricultural demand dynamics. Delegations also discussed quality management standards, liquid fertilizer distribution, biostimulants, and modern plant nutrition technologies. Discussions emphasized the necessity of securing reliable import flows to balance persistent domestic product deficits.

Addressing these market deficits requires diversified logistics channels and cross-commodity operational capabilities. Industry stakeholders highlighted the coordination of petroleum products, biofuels, and fertilizer flows through established European transport corridors. Strategic partnerships across the chemical and agricultural sectors were identified as essential mechanisms to maintain domestic input stability.
