AI & Content Policy

How editorial AI is used at Meridian Commodities, and the limits we place on it.

How we use AI

Meridian Commodities uses editorial AI as a drafting and summarisation tool inside a supervised newsroom workflow. RSS feeds are a discovery mechanism only. AI is used to produce an original paraphrase of attributed source reporting, to suggest metadata, and to generate illustrative imagery where no licensed image is available.

Rules the system must follow

Generated text must preserve the factual meaning of the source and must not invent claims, quotations, numbers, statistics, people, companies or citations. It must not copy sentence structure from the source. It must not add facts that cannot be traced back to the source material.

Human oversight

Publication can be configured to require human approval. Articles that fail verification thresholds are routed to human review regardless of settings. We never state that AI-assisted content has been independently verified when it has not; each article displays its verification and editorial approval status.

Disclosure

Articles drafted with AI assistance carry a visible note in the source and attribution panel, together with the model identifier retained in our internal audit record.

Imagery

AI-generated imagery is illustrative. It is never presented as documentary evidence of a specific event, and images are captioned accordingly.
