Editorial Policy
How Meridian Commodities selects, verifies, writes and corrects the coverage it publishes.
Purpose
Meridian Commodities is a business-to-business trade publication covering commodities, energy, oil, fuel oil, marine fuel, shipping and logistics. Our readers make commercial decisions, so our first obligation is accuracy and clarity, not volume.
What we publish
We focus on constructive and commercially useful developments: investment, infrastructure, new capacity, contracts, technology, partnerships, financing, efficiency, sustainability initiatives, operational milestones, appointments and market developments.
What we do not publish
We do not knowingly publish defamatory claims. We do not publish allegations, accusations, rumour, gossip or unverified claims about companies or individuals. We do not rewrite a negative story into a positive one, and we never alter facts to make a development appear more favourable than the source material supports.
Where source material contains materially negative allegations, legal disputes, criminal allegations, serious operational failures or other high-risk claims, that item is routed to human review or rejected. It is not published automatically.
Sourcing and verification
Every article records the original source, source URL, source headline, source publication time, retrieval time and generation time. Before publication each article is scored for source reliability, source accessibility, factual consistency against the source, duplication, editorial quality, SEO completeness, image confidence and defamation risk. An article is blocked from automatic publication when the source cannot be verified, when claims conflict with the source, when unsupported claims or allegations are present, when quotations cannot be validated, or when the text is too similar to the source.
Limits of our process
We do not claim absolute or guaranteed credibility. We operate a multi-stage verification process designed to reach the highest practical level of factual reliability, and we correct errors promptly when they are identified.
Corrections
If you believe we have published something inaccurate, please use our corrections page. We review every request and publish corrections where warranted.
