Commodity trading house Alkagesta has obtained ISCC CORSIA accreditation, granting the enterprise clearance to market and deliver certified Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The qualification confirms that the firm's aviation fuel supplies satisfy the greenhouse-gas lifecycle reduction criteria established by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. This development enables the Malta-based merchant to support airline counterparties facing increasingly rigorous statutory decarbonisation targets.

The achievement strengthens Alkagesta's commercial presence in low-carbon fuels by instituting verified chain-of-custody tracking across its supply channels. According to Anthony Guida, biofuels trader and business developer at the firm, the certification guarantees supply traceability throughout the distribution process. Guida noted that the credential supports counterparties seeking to meet both regional mandates and broader international compliance structures.

The certification comes as the aviation sector confronts rising regulatory obligations to monitor and lower carbon output across key jurisdictions. In Europe, frameworks such as the ReFuelEU Aviation initiative are imposing progressive blending mandates for sustainable drop-in alternatives. Furthermore, the gradual reduction of free pollution allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System is heightening the economic incentive for carriers to procure compliant fuels.

By securing certification under an ICAO-approved sustainability scheme, Alkagesta aligns its commercial trading desk with a standardised compliance framework. The merchant intends to supply verified fuel volumes that integrate directly with airline reporting and emissions accounting systems. This operational step addresses a growing requirement for transparent environmental documentation within international aviation logistics.

Established in 2018, Alkagesta operates as a privately held international commodity trader with business activities in 42 countries. The enterprise maintains 17 offices globally and works alongside 28 international banking institutions, managing annual physical commodity flows exceeding 7 million metric tons. Its operational scope covers biofuels, petroleum products, steel, and fertilisers, backed by more than 700,000 cubic meters of storage capacity across Europe and Asia.
