Alkagesta Outlines Multi-Commodity Growth and Regional Expansion at 2025 Town Hall
Malta-headquartered trader Alkagesta reported commercial expansion across biofuels, naphtha, and bunkering alongside new African export flows during its annual group meeting.

Malta-based commodity trading firm Alkagesta reviewed its annual performance and operational milestones during its 2025 Group Town Hall in Istanbul. The meeting gathered 167 personnel across the company's commercial, logistics, and risk management functions. Senior management outlined the firm's progress amid volatile global energy markets, evolving shipping regulations, and shifting trade flows. The event underscored the company's efforts to integrate risk governance with cross-commodity expansion.
Throughout 2025, the trading house advanced several structural diversification initiatives beyond conventional petroleum operations. The group formally launched a dedicated biofuels trading desk to capture rising maritime demand for low-carbon bunker fuels. Alkagesta also introduced a naphtha desk, completing an initial Long Range vessel shipment from the Mediterranean to the Far East. Additionally, the trading house expanded into the metals sector through the commencement of steel trading.
On the geographic front, the company developed new supply routes and strengthened its presence in key export regions. Alkagesta completed its inaugural fuel oil export from Nigeria, handling a 130,000-metric-ton cargo from the West African hub. In North Africa, the group reinforced its fertilizer export operations out of Egypt to serve agricultural and industrial markets. Concurrently, regional petroleum distribution broadened across Eastern European corridors linking European and Black Sea demand centres.
The trading house also expanded its operational presence across Asian trade channels, centering on Singapore. Investments were directed into regional liquid storage capacity alongside an expanded marine fuel distribution business to support bunker and industrial buyers. Alkagesta reported higher traded volumes of middle distillates over the year, driven by arbitrage flows originating from the Arabian Gulf. These infrastructure and commercial moves reinforced the firm's connectivity across major clean-product shipping lanes.
Founded in 2018, Alkagesta handles over seven million metric tons of commodity flows annually across 42 countries. The privately held company operates 17 international representations and maintains access to more than 700,000 cubic meters of storage across Europe and Asia. Looking ahead to 2026, group leadership emphasized that operational discipline, regulatory compliance, and multi-commodity flexibility will remain central to navigating evolving physical energy markets.
