Alkagesta, a global commodity trading company headquartered in Malta, took part in the 20th anniversary celebration of SUISSENÉGOCE, the Swiss Commodity Trading Association, held under the big top of Circus Knie in Geneva. Alkagesta was represented by Orkhan Rustamov, CEO, and Orkhan Zeynalli, CFO.

The evening was opened by SUISSENÉGOCE President Nicolas Matter and Secretary General Florence Schurch, who reflected on two decades of growth and collaboration and paid tribute to the association's founders, past presidents, board members, and members. Matter traced the association's origins to founders Geert Descheemaeker and Jacques-Olivier Thomann, who recognized the need for Swiss commodity trading companies to work together on shared challenges — a foundation that grew into what he described as a respected voice for the sector.

Schurch reviewed SUISSENÉGOCE's role over the past twenty years, from representing the sector and supporting professional education to engaging with policymakers and strengthening Switzerland's standing as a global commodity trading hub. She highlighted the wider network of banks, insurers, logistics specialists, inspection and certification firms, legal experts, educators, recruiters, and consultants that supports the industry alongside its trading companies.

Following remarks from the association's leadership, guests watched a performance by the artists of Circus Knie before the celebration continued at the Cercle des Bains in Geneva.

Alkagesta's attendance reflects its continued engagement with Switzerland's commodity trading community and the institutions that support it. The company is active in petroleum products, fertilizers, biofuels, and steel across more than 48 countries.
