Alkagesta Enters Argus Open Markets Window for European Biofuels
The trading firm secures access to Argus pricing mechanisms across European biodiesel, HVO, and used cooking oil markets.

Alkagesta has secured access to the Argus Open Markets trading window covering European biodiesel, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and used cooking oil (UCO). This milestone integrates the trading firm directly into the daily benchmark formation mechanisms for regional sustainable fuel markets. Through this inclusion, the company can actively submit bids, offers, and completed transactions for consideration in Argus price reporting.
Price assessments generated via the Argus Open Markets framework serve as essential settlement and reference indices for producers, merchants, and downstream consumers across Europe. Headquartered in London, Argus Media maintains operations across 32 international offices with a workforce exceeding 1,500 personnel. The pricing agency's valuation services and market intelligence are utilized across 160 countries to value physical commodity flows.
The inclusion in the Argus pricing structure underscores the expansion of Alkagesta's dedicated biofuels desk since its inception in 2025. Over this operational period, the enterprise has established trading activities across multiple renewable asset classes, including feedstock origination for UCO as well as finished biodiesel and HVO flows. The unit's commercial scope also incorporates ISCC-certified sustainable aviation fuel and European Union Emissions Trading System compliance instruments.
Anthony Guida, who leads the biofuels trading desk at Alkagesta, stated that joining the pricing window provides an opportunity to contribute directly to market liquidity. He noted that active order submission will aid in refining the precision of published benchmark assessments. Furthermore, Guida highlighted that greater market transparency would support the broader adoption of renewable transport fuels.
This latest reporting integration complements Alkagesta's existing participation in other core commodity benchmark mechanisms. The merchant previously obtained clearance to trade within the Platts Market on Close assessment process for physical naphtha across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Together, these accreditations reflect the firm's strategic focus on establishing a footprint across both conventional petroleum markets and evolving sustainable fuel sectors.
